Is it just me who would rather that the lakers go after young players in free agency rather than players like rondo?

Going after the younger players imo will be beneficial to the post kobe era.

For the draft, We need to get a pg, sf and c, and all will help add to the young assets we have. I am assuming we are going to have the 4th pick, a pick around 25th, and an early second at about the 34th spot. Imo, we should trade the late first and a player, such as young, to move up into the mid-late lottery area. A team such as the Hawks might accept, as they are a lottery team, and young gives them someone to come off the bench and add an extra scoring punch.

If they do, these are the picks I would make:
4th- mudiay, because I'm assuming towns, okafor and russell Will be gone
12th- if johnson or Winslow for some reason drop, pick them, but they probably won't, so get oubre.
34th- Upshaw, add to the young binmen group we are building, and imo worth the risk of him screwing his opportunity up

Resign
Davis- imo, don't accept hills option and make sure davis and black come back, hill is now a 6'10" sg.
Ellington- can be somewhat of a scoring punch for the second unit
Black- young and improving
Kelly-obviously not the best player, but can make teams change plans by stretching the floor.

Sign
There are plenty of options to choose from, here are my top picks for sf and c.
SF- Butler, Middleton, Harris, Leonard
C- Jordan, Gasol, Lopez

I'm hoping for jordan for centre, and either of those 4 SF's would do me.

Pg- Mudiay/ Clarkson
Sg- Bryant/ Ellington/ Brown
Sf- (one of the FA SF's)/ Oubre
Pf- Randle/ Davis/ Kelly
C- (one of the FA C's)/ Black/ Upshaw

Mudiay is overrated. He'll be another Tyrke Evans. Nothing special.

We need a mixture of young and old players. For an example of young players. see Philly.

Rondo is only 29 years old, with the 4th pick Caulie-Stein or Stanley are better options in my opinion because Lakers can sign Rondo. Your line up can definitely compete in the Western conference. I agree with you on:

keeping Davis, Ellington and Black, letting Hill go, and drafting Oubre and Upshaw. I also agree with your FA options. I think kelly is already under contract.
If the lakers draft Stanley as the 1st rounder pick.
Line up would be
PG- Rondo, Clarkson, Brown
SG- Bryant, Young, Ellington
SF- Stanley, Oubre, Kelley
Pf- Davis, Randle, Black
C- Gasol, Upshaw, Sacre

If the lakers draft WSC:
resign Johnson as well
Line up would be
Pg- Rondo, Clarkson, Brown
Sg- Bryant, Young, Ellington
Sf- Harris, Johnson, Oubre
Pf- Davis, Randle, Kelly
C- C-Stein, Upshaw, Black

I would still rather go after knight or jackson instead of rondo who has had some big injuries over the last couple of seasons, he cannot shoot (free throws and all) and seems like he is hard to coach. I just don't think he will help too much in the future.

Dudley is great in China

5.) 05 Apr 2015
Byron Scott let's their PGs do their thing if Rondo is playing freely he is a top 5 point guard. Mudlay on the other hand still has to prove himself here in the US.

6.) 05 Apr 2015
I'd still go for Rondo next season considering his experience, championship mindset, and leadership. Clarkson will only be 23 nextseason he has a lot of time to learn from rondo. Clarkson can also play the 2 spot. So minutes will not be an issue. Also, next season might be the last season of kobe, if that's the case JC can grab the 2 spot position next to Rondo.

The Lakers will not have enough money under the cap to sign 2 max (or even near max) players. DeAndre Jordan will likely sign for 18-20 million a year and the Lakers would only have 4-6 million left.

8.) 06 Apr 2015
If a team pays deandre jordan 18-20 mil, then that's just stupid

9.) 06 Apr 2015
I agree, Deandre is worth more than that
