Whether it seems likely or not the Lakers will target Kevin Durant first and foremost. So my scenario is based on Durant coming with the same assumption of getting Simmons or Brandon.

Lakers get KD:

Then they will definitely want DeRozan because he's not a SG/ SF like Kobe or DWade that holds the ball as much which gives KD the first choice. And no brainer that DeRozan would come to LA once KD is signed.

With this roster, they will def want to keep D. Russell.

Assuming they get both KD and DeRozan, then I believe the front office would pass the opportunity to get the best big man in the league, Cousins via trade because with the roster of Russel, DeRozan and KD, they would much rather a Center like Whiteside who is much atletic and makes his bread from hard work and hussle and a better defender. So the Lakers would go after Whiteside.

And remember, the timing of the signings is very important here. They have to close KD first to attract guys like Whiteside and DeRozan much more easily.

And then, if we get Simmons or Ingram, the Lakers would probably keep them since they're very promising. This way, the Lakers still kept all the youngs guys like Russell, Randle, Clarkson + Whiteside.

I'm not going to predict what they would do with the lesser players like Young, Black, Lou, or Anthony Brown. You never know.

So, if the Lakers can sign KD soon after FA begins; the rest is very likely.

PG: Russell, Lou,?
SG: DeRozan, Clarkson
SF: KD, Brown,?
PF: Simmons (Ingram), Randle,
C: Whiteside, Sacre,?

I think they tried the pick in a package deal to get a big name, Kyrie, Jimmy, Demarcus. That makes it easier to sign KD and the rest will come.
