What the Lakers should do this offseason.

#1)let jordan Clarkson walk. Look he's a good ball player and has upside but he is a ball dominant player like Russell. So he won't fit well next to russell. He also doesn't shot the 3 ball well and is a horrible defensive player.

#2)trade the #2nd and 32nd picks for jimmy bulter. The #2 pick is a gamble plan and simple. Getting jimmy butler will be cheaper than derozan. It also will provide the Lakers a franchise player who is a all star offensively and defensively. Bulter is also on his 2nd contract allowing the Lakers to get a star who is young and fits with the paths of the Lakers young core.

#3)attempt to sign Harrison Barnes. Offer him a max contract on the first hour of free agency. He's a guy who could be a 2nd or 3rd scoring option, he's a decent 3 point shooter, and elite athelete and defender. He is also really young and fits the time line of the young laker core.

#4) attempt to trade nick young for future #2 round pick.

#5) don't sign any other free agents to more than a year long contract. We need to preserve our cap space for 2017 summer free agents.

#6) allow back centers to start and develop in hopes of making solid bench players for the future.

These moves allow Lakers to grab a franchise player and a potential all star in Barnes. Protects the cap space to sign one more stud player next year and allows the Lakers to stay really young.

There has to be a contigency plan if GS matches. Also Clarkson would have to be part of the trade with Butler as a S&T. And they have to sign a center Biyombo 4/60 or Whiteside 4/84. They would have the cap space still for another max in 2017

1) Letting Jordan Clarkson for nothing in return makes no sense. He has value.

2) Jimmy Butler will make $17M next year. DeRozan around $19M to $20M. Not much of a difference. Lakers would be better signing DeRozan and selecing #2 & #32. Growth is much better as well.

3) Trading Nick Young for a future second round pick will be impossible. He will have to be package with a young core player for a star or waived.

4) If we don't sign other players to anything other than 1 year contracts then the team will lose games under your plan. Salary cap is only good if somebody takes it. The core is good and I like the development but we need other players such as a center to help win now to attract players in 2017. Signing a quality center on the free agent market will cost a 2 to 3 year contract.

I would Keep Clarkson. He's improved every year he's been in the league. Just checkout his stats. His 3 point shooting has improved along with his defense and all around game. If he sucked defensively it's probably because the entire team sucked defensively. I think with another year or 2 he could be an allstar.
