Laker possible future additions

Lakers draft SF Ben Simmons #1 pick and draft C Chinanu Onuaku #32 pick

Sign Kevin Durant

Sign Hassan Whiteside

Sign Joakim Noah

Trade Nick Young for toilet tissue
(Addition by subtraction)

If that happened and the team resigned Jordan Clarkson and Marcelo Huertas this would be the potential lineup for the Lakers!

With the Lakers losing so many games and having an estimated cap space of over $70 million next year they will have a great chance to get the #1 or #2 pick in this years NBA Draft plus they will have ample cash to lure all star and superstar players.

Call this,
The Lakers Make Over Steps:

#1. Draft Ben Simmons #1 pick or Brandon Ingram #2 pick of the Draft

#2. Sign Hassan Whiteside*

#3. Sign Demar Derozan*

#4. Convince Kevin Durant to sign with the recent acquisitions on board

#5. Trade Ben Simmons or Brandon Ingram to the Sixers to get Nerlens Noel, Robert Covington and a future 2nd Round Draft Pick

#6. Make the Playoffs

#7. Compete for a Championship

This line up would be scary!
PG
D'angelo Russell/ Lou Williams/ Marcelo Huertas
SG
Demar Derozan/ Jordan Clarkson
SF
Kevin Durant/ Robert Covington/ Anthony Brown
PF
Julius Randle/ Larry Nance Jr. / Brandon Bass
C
Hassan Whiteside/ Nerlens Noel/ Tarik Black

* Steps #2 or #3 will work either way!

That would be awesome

I like this post a whole lot! I can tell it was very thought out. However if this did happen, I would like the Lakers to keep Ben Simmons or Brandon Ingram and allow which ever 1 the Lakers got to develop with the core youngsters, so not only would they be building a championship team for today but they would also have 1 for the future.

In Reference to the post I commented on below and a previous post I wrote

I believe the Lakers can convince Kevin Durant or another superstar to sign if they get Ben Simmons or Brandon Ingram in the draft and sign Hassan Whiteside and either Harrison Barnes or Demar Derozan.

Tell me what you think! Whether you think the Lakers can get a superstar to play for them or not it's still open for discussion.

It's open for discussion to get Durant still. The problem is conviencing Derozan to take a tad less to play with Durant so we can sign Whiteside plus other free agents. Barnes won't take less and I doubt Durant would come to the Lakers to play with Barnes and Whiteside. More than likely and this is just my opinion. If Durant were to come we would have to trade the pick 2016 if we get it for a star player that can play along with Durant & DeRozan. Durant isn't going to come to a team in development. To get this star player the team that we make the trade with will have to take Nick Young & Williams in the deal to make it work. Cause we still have Clarkson to deal with unless Clarkson is in the sign and trade.

Unless u want the likes of clarkson or russell and that 2nd pick getting 15-20 mins a night, there is no way it will happen whether we can afford it or not.

I see what you're saying Lakerwaker but $65 million is just a projected cap space for the Lakers and is not officially set as their cap space. That being the case, some have projected the cap space for the Lakers to be closer to $70 million. The exact same thing happened last year when most projected the total cap for the NBA for the 2015-2016 season would be $67 million, the NBA officially set it at $70 million. Of course $3 million higher than the salary cap was projected. My projection is just a shot at the high end. Also, in regards to the rookies (Hopefully Ben Simmons or Brandon Ingram) signing contracts and fitting under the cap, if you look at my lineup I didn't place Nick Young in it. That being said, his almost $6 million wouldn't be on the books either. Now of course he couldn't just disappear (Even though I kind of wish he could) he could still possibly be in a draft day trade or sign and trade with the Raptors for Derozan or Warriors for Barnes. etc. That $6 million plus $3 million from the projected cap space of $70 million would be enough for the Lakers to sign their rookies. Lastly, in regards to Clarkson the Lakers can sign him last because of the fact that he's a restricted free agent and teams won't lock up their money going after him before they go after the "Big Fish". That being said, if the Lakers signed Whiteside, Derozan, Barnes and the rookies before Clarkson (and Nick Young vanished) they could do it if they wanted to and I believe they would! :)

That would be great! With the Lakers having a projected $70 million to offer free agents this summer they could also sign Harrison Barnes too!

Demar Derozan $25 million max contract
Hassan Whiteside $21 million max contract
Harrison Barnes $21 million max contract

$25 million + $21 million + $21 million = $67 million out of $70 million of the Lakers cap space

Coping your line up and adding Harrison Barnes.
That would be a crazy good line up!

C
