I read a while back that the Pistons were shopping Stanley Johnson hard. Now, I know he hasn't exactly lived up to expectations in Detroit, but I still believe he has the potential to be great (very solid defender, athletic, and has improved his shot) . Put him at the 2 next to Lonzo, and they would be a nightmare defensively.

Pistons get
Josh Hart
CLE 1st rnd pick 2018
LAL 2nd rnd pick 2018
LAL 1st rnd pick 2020

Lakers get
Stanley Johnson
DET 2nd rnd pick 2018

Lakers
C- / Zubac
PF- Randle/ Bryant
SF- Ingram/ Kuzma
SG- Johnson/
PG- Ball/

Not a bad young core to build around (IMO) . With Lonzo's shot improving, if Johnson can become a more consistent scorer, this backcourt could be flat out lethal on both ends of the floor. Not to mention, we'd still have Ingram to go to, and Kuzma to provide scoring off the bench.

Stanley Johnson is not worth 2 firsts, Hart, and a 2nd. Lakers don't own the 2nd round pick in 2018. This deal would set the Lakers back actually. You said it yourself "He hasn't lived up to expectations. " Look at what the Sixers got for Jahlil Okafor.

If we could get Stanley Johnson for Josh Hart and a 2nd rnd pick, I think the Lakers would be crazy to pass on it. Don't forget, a big reason why Stanley Johnson hasn't lived up to expectations is because he wasn't given consistent playing time, and for the most part, had to compete for mins off the bench, against more established forwards. Before he was drafted, he was getting comparisons to players like Khawi Leonard and Ron Artest. The defense is there, he just needs to develop and work on his shooting (which is easier to learn than the other fundamentals he already possesses) . Josh Hart and Clevelands 1st rnd pick 2018 (this draft is deep, but let's be honest, what are the odds that late in the draft that we can draft another player with the caliber of a Kyle kuzma? ) . He could end up just being a 'late bloomer', it's not like he'd be the first one in the NBA.

Here is the thing. Johnson is a SF. Lakers have Ingram at the SF. If the Lakers get say PG13 he will be the starting SF or SG. So in theory Johnson would have a bench role on the Lakers. I do need to correct you. Johnson has been the Pistons starting SF all year unless he was injured. He isn't a bench player for the Pistons so he has gotten minutes just been struggling in Detroit. He would be a bench player for the Lakers. When you say he could develop his shot well he's in his 3rd year and next year he will be in his 4th. Johnson either has a shot or he doesn't. My opinion he will be a bench role player for a playoff team. I would keep Hart and pass on Johnson.
