I don't think that the lakers need to sign a superstar in free agency. Just think would you rather pay a ton of money for a superstar who may not perform/get injured or sign 3 mid level players who can form a bond and help out this team? 3 players that I think we should target are DeAndre Jordan, Jimmy Butler and Goran Dragic. We then draft D'Angelo Russell (Ohio St. ) and I know what you might be thinking. Why would we draft a Top-5 PG and sign Dragic. But, will Russell really make an impact straight away? I don't think so. We'd be better off letting him come off the bench and develop rather than pressure him into performing. With the pick from HOU draft Frank Kaminsky (Wisconsin) and let go of Boozer, Hill, Lin and Wesley Johnson.

The lineup will then be:

G - G. Dragic, D. Russell, J. Clarkson
G - K. Bryant, W. Ellington
F - J. Butler, N. Young
F - J. Randle, E. Davis, R. Kelly
C - D. Jordan, F. Kaminsky, T. Black, R. Sacre

That is a lineup that can contend for a playoffs spot. Maybe not a title straight away but will be a huge improvement.

The Lakers cannot afford three of these so called "mid level" tier players you speak of. It is already well known that Jimmy Butler is a max money player and apart from that, if one has the salary cap in mind (projected to be $67 million) then he or she knows that Kobe's contract along with definitely incumbent player contracts belonging to Julius Randle and Nick Young hinder the amount of money that can spent on free agents. The amount of money that can be thrown at free agents is somewhere around $27 million.
