Lou Williams 7.0 mil

Cap Space - 68 million
First trade Houston and Lakers
Ty Lawson and Houston 2016 1 for Roy Hibbert
Both have no guaranteed money next year and the rockets can have an upgrade with Hibbert, while the Lakers net another pick.
Second Trade Bucks and Lakers
Jamal Crawford, Lac 2016 2, Lac 2017 2, Cj Wilcox for Lou Williams
This trade nets the Clippers a way better of the bench scorer then Jamal is. This also gives the Lakers Crawford, who could be used as trade bait, and then also a former first rounder and 2 future second rounders
Third Trade Lakers and Jazz
Jamal Crawford for Utah 2017 2, and Jeff Withey
This gives Utah a scorer of the bench without having to give up much, while giving the lakers more youth and freeing cap space.
Fourth Trade Lakers- Rapters
Nick Young for Louis Scola, 2016 Raptors 2
This gives the Raptors the punch of the bench they need and it gives the Lakers Scola, who they will waive and also. another draft pick and freed cap space.
Fifth Trade Lakers Heat
Heat 2016 2, Chris Anderson for Brandon Bass
Lakers waive Anderson
This gives Heat a post who can score while giving the lakers another pick.

This team has a whole lot of youth and veteran leadership, the lakers will do a great job pitching to free agents and getting them to team up to come back to La and win it again. A lot of the rooks, can hang in the d-league for a while.
I also think we would need a new HC if we want to win, so fire Byron and maybe look at Mark Jackson or Luke Walton.

I clicked Believable.

but some of the suggested signings are unnecessary; Luol Deng to play 3rd option? Lin? I think he''ll make more money playing elsewhere.
I'd rather keep Lou for Sg/Pg than Lin or Johnson. Bass, Hibbart and Nick Young are the only players I'd use as trade baits. Also, where's Anthony Brown and Upshaw?_those two presumably have some potential though instead of trying to get Brimah or Selden.

I will add to what pjrw was saying. Your 4th through 8th step none of them are signing for that cheap. If the Lakers could get Joakim Noah for 2 years $15 million why would they sign Whiteside for $18 per year? I personally think that's way too much money for Whiteside or Batum.

Your trades are ok but that's only if teams would want those players for rentals for this season. Realistically Lawson for Hibbert wouldn't make sense. Houston has Howard and the Lakers are guard heavy. Lawson is still owed 2 more years. That pick isn't worth taking $26 million of Lawson salary.

Yeah those last couple free agency moves were about players trying to get the Lakers a championship, which might work.

Also Ty Lawson is non-guaranteed for next year.

For the Lakers to compete for a championship next season they would need to start by signing Kevin Durant. Then add 2 other quality free agents like Derozan and Horford. That's what it will take to beat the Warriors.
