DRAFT
Assuming we get the 2nd pick.
2- Brandon Ingram

TRADE
Use Young in a trade either before the trade deadline or in the offseason.
Maybe.
Rockets trade McDaniels
Lakers trade Young

CAP SPACE
I'm assuming Bass will opt out of with his player option, now that nance and randle seem to have that position locked down for a decade or so.

Lakers should have 65 mil to use, dropping to 50-55 mil once clarkson is resigned.

FREE AGENCY
Lakers need a starting centre and solid back ups in the PG and C positions.

Whiteside- DPOY candidate who would fit the lakers perfectly. One of the few somewhat realistic star players who could sign for the lakers. Even reports that Miami are scared he might leave, forcing trade rumours. Actually rolls to the basket and is effective in the pick and roll, a place where clarkson and russell thrive. Makes up for randles defensive issues and has an underated jumpshot from what I've seen.

Chalmers- A solid enough back up, easily capable of leading a second unit.

Any solid defensive centre would do to back up, possibly a veteran who can add leadership.

Wouldn't be opposed to bringing back MWP just to help teach the younger players about what it means to be a laker and his veteran presence would be good. Doesn't have to play much but would add depth, defend well and he wouldn't cost much.

COACH
Bring in a new coach. Anyone who actually has a playbook, someone who is flexible and not stubborn and will be patient with young guys and actually play them will be better than Byron. Oh and a bit of ball movement is nice, along with this teams ability to push the ball up the court with energy and pace, could be very good.

TEAM
PG- Russell/ Chalmers
SG- Clarkson/ Williams/ Brown
SF- Ingram/ Mcdaniels/ MWP
PF- Randle/ Nance Jr.
C- Whiteside/ FA/ Upshaw or Black.

Not sure how realistic this is but I would love to see this team play with the energy, passion and youth this team would bring. Athletic and has solid defensive players to even out the offensive style this current team has. Definitely wouldn't be a title contender, and may not even make the playoffs, but it would definitely be a force to be reckoned with in a couple of years once the younger players start to play to their full potential.

It seems very realistic for me. Whiteside is like the 5th option among the Centers on next FA. We could try some other first, but I think he will fit Lakers.
Also Chalmers is having a good season so far.
Not a championship team. But a very young group, with bright future.
